Beginning in 2007 ACA became a primary charter broker for the transportation of Satellites from factories in California to launch facilities in Kazakhstan and French Guiana. ACA has arranged over a dozen launch mission charters under ITAR/DITSA supervision to these locations utilizing the Russian Antonov 124 heavy lift aircraft. Due to the sensitive nature of the cargo and destinations, extensive pre-planning went into every flight and an ACA representative flew onboard with the cargo to ensure smooth operation and to solve unexpected challenges onsite. Challenges included the customs complexities of arrival at a Kazakh airport to deliver to a Russian Military base, maintaining DITSA protocols, juggling a period of low aircraft availability, and the sensitivity of the cargo itself to movement, temperature, and pressure changes.
